The sightseeing bus Thursday 18th & Friday 19th

It's an heatwave here in Toronto so I'm a bit late putting posts up as when you get inside in the evening you're totally beaten. Anyways Thursday and Friday I went on the sightseeing bus "Hop on- Hop off", Thursday I just stayed on the bus, got off at the harbour to do the included boattour and then got back on. Friday I used the bus to meet up with friends, visit Michaels(still impressed by the size of that place, prices are like home though). They have great youngsters that guides on the busses and with different styles of talking.

I bet you're tired of reading now, so over to the pics :)
Enjoy!

Starting off with some photos from Yonge Dundas Square where the bus originates, although you can start anywhere if you have your ticket ready.

Going up Yongestreet we passed the hotel where we're going to have the RCW139-You must remember this convention next weekend. The old clocktower from a firestation is protected by laws and will be incorporated in the condos they'll build on the spot, maybe one day when I visit again I'll get to see how it looks then.

Turning into Yorkville you notice this is where the more expensive shops are, among them a red(of course) building for Louboutin shoes. An old firestation, the first hotel in Toronto to get five stars, you need an appointment to even get into the lobby. And to end it off it's a beautiful archway.

Going on towards Casa Loma(house on the hill) we had to pass a low bridge and just before it is a beacutiful mural. And if you wonder, one of the days I was more on top of the bus and the other day on the bottom to get different views of buildings and things. We were told the story that Sir Henry, the man who had Casa Loma built(and brought electricity to Toronto) wanted to build a wall around and he offered people to come with stones, they got paied 1 Canadian Dollar and that was considered a day's work. This little boy came with a stone, unfortunately the dirt washed off it in the rain and he was turned away. He told his story to who he thought was a gardener, but it turned out to be Henry himself. The stone is white and he got paied 5 Canadian Dollars. Cute story isn't it? Don't know if I really believe it though.

Some tops of houses going back downtown.

Several museums and interesting buildings were passed.

The Bata Shoe Museum where the entrance is made to look like a stiletto heal.

Just a beautiful entrance to the public library

Near AGO(Art Gallery of Ontario) is the collage/university for artstudents. It's designed to lokk like crayons falling out of a box.

More from ROM(Royal Ontario Museum) will come when I get around to do the post for Saturday when I actually visited the place.

One of many old buildings in the city, churches seems to be the most saved ones, but again you can't just tear a church down, can you?

CP24 tv it's said to be "first on sight", driving so fast that they could drive through a building, therefore there is this car with a rotating wheel sticking out of the wall of their building.

Down by the harbour you can get on Serendipity Princess and go on a tour of the islands. If you're going on a boat yourself there be aware to keep outside the bouys at the Billy Bishop airport, not will you only be fined about 10,000 Canadian Dollars, but you will lose your boating licenece. The city ariport hasn't as long runways as the bigger Pearson International and also landing and lift-off is very close to the water.

Amsterdam used to be "sistercity" with Toronto and therefore this bridge is called the Amsterdam bridge. This is also the bridge used in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" for when the main couple kiss for the first time. Yes, many times Toronto is passed on as another city in movies.

A dueser sighting, the boat used when Ray K and Stella danced and Fraser dove into the water looking for the mechanism that triggerd the champange bottle to explode.

It was so hot I just HAD to have an icecream, really nice sorbet, Raspberry Lime and Passionfruit Lemonade.

Another dueser sighting, the silos from where Ray K and Fraser jumped off in the beginning of Mountie on the Bounty.

The boatspot for Serendipity Princess, the boat itself and some pics from out on the water.

Hanlan's Point

Bouys and one end of the runway infront of the Toronto skyline

Toronto skyline mobile photo with panoramic view

A few different views of CN Tower

A few different murals and painted switchboards, along with some sculptures.

Around the entrances for CN Tower and Ripley Aquarium

Around the flat iron building that's got a great mural on the back where the fountain with 27 dogs is, also there's a cat nowdays and the hands that I still think belongs to the head in the roundabout in Hyllie, Malmö.

On the subject of streetsigns and signs for restaurants, theatres and other buldings, wonder if this Italian place(more than location) is fans of Queen(the music group)

A few random bulding, the old City Hall and Union Station, the clocktower on the City Hall isn't centered on the building but to be seen stepping out of the Union Station.

Few pics from inside Michaels, everything is giant or in bulk.

Met up quickly with Sonja as she was working, this is from inside the TIFF shop

Some pics connected to the Due South episodes of Victoria's secret

The Distillery District is also a place where many Due South episodes are filmed, will be visiting this pre-con Thursday evening so more coming after that. Also the Patrican Grill sign seen from the top of the bus.

Thursday evening I stepped into Loblaws to pick something up for dinner and saw these colourful and funny cakes and cookies and lovely flowers.

THIS IS IT! Thursday and Friday are documented! See you soon for Saturday and Sunday!
